The annual Dutch airshow was held at Gilze-Rijen AB in 2010 for the first time in several years as reconstruction work had been completed. Gilze-Rijen is now the KLu helicopter base, housing the Chinook, Cougar and Apache fleets. We took a day-trip from the UK for the Saturday of the 2-day show. The weather was extremely variable, with heavy rain showers during the afternoon, bracketed by sunshine. Despite the sun, the temperature for most of the day was well below the June average. Weather on the Friday was much better, to our dismay. The light was tricky, as the sun was behind us (good) illuminating the clouds in front of us so that the aircraft were strongly backlit at times (b-a-d!). Despite this, it was an enjoyable day with several uncommon participants. All the better for being free admission too.
